Jabari Mahiri is a Professor of Education at UC Berkeley, Chair of the Language, Literacy & Culture Program, and Faculty Director of the Bay Area Writing Project. He is also Vice-President the Board for REALM Charter School and a Senior Scholar for the interactive Internet project: “Question Bridge: Black Males.” http://questionbridge.com/  He is author of African American and Youth Culture in New Century Schools (1998); When Scholarship Athletes become Academic Scholars (2010); and, Digital Tools in Urban Schools (2011). He is editor of What They Don't Learn in School (2004) and Virtual Lives (Forthcoming, 2013).
